A War Without Lucy

In 1913 17th of December a young girl named lucy went out to check the mail and found a letter to her brother she ran inside and gave it to her brother Toby what is this Lucy said?

It's a letter for me to go to war Toby said with excitement Toby,said Lucy what happens if you don't make it back ‘what do you mean said Toby i'll make it back trust me after all this is what I have been training for and it will be a fun adventure for me.

The day came by it was now 1914 28th of July the day that Toby goes war. It only seemed like yesterday I gave Toby his letter Toby came into my room and said bye I started to cry a little I don't want Toby to die I hope he will be safe. So we said our goodbyes and as Toby set sail in the boats I had a feeling he wasn't going to survive.

It's now been two years I am now thirteen I haven't heard anything for Toby in the past year I hope he is ok. As I thought about Toby I realised there was still about  three years before I see him again.As I walk out to the mailbox hoping for a letter from Toby I heard mum calling me. I run inside and mum hands me a letter in big letters it says FROM TOBY yay he's alive I say to myself.

It's now 1918 i'm now fifteen I only found out today that Toby comes back on my 17th birthday. I made some fruit cake to send to Toby it's sould get there soon well I hope. All I want for my birthday is for Toby to be home.

It's now 1920 Toby comes home tomorrow yay I can't wait it's my birthday as well,It's 9 pm I better go to bed. Me Mum and Dad got up at 6 am and started to walk to the wharf. I could see the boats drifting in slowly everyone was cheering and waving I was starting to get excited it's been 6 years since I have seen Toby. As the boats pull up I try to look for Toby but I couldn't see him what happens if he died.

Half an hour later no sign of Toby as I walk off crying someone comes up behind me and gave me the biggest hug of my life I turn around I couldn't believe my eyes  It was Toby. You really think that I would miss your 17th birthday said Toby I'm sorry I didn't get you a Present ,yes you did said lucy what is it then says Toby with confusement having you home safe is all I wanted for my birthday and guess what I got what I wanted.

Science Roadshow

On Tuesday the 14th our class went to grey high for a science show at 12 o'clock  there were two other schools there such as Paparoa range and Awahono school. When we first walked into the high school we had to line up when the man took us through to the room it was filled with lots of science equipment. When we walked in we sat down behind another school to watch one of the science live shows.

Once the first live science show was over we were aloud to go around looking and trying all of the equipment. There were these cards that we had to get holes poked in them to go in the draw to win a prize but to get holes poked in the card you had to go to a teacher with a yellow sash on and tell them the correct answer to the questions my favorite piece of equipment was this glass egg timer thing that has liquid in it and when you  touch the bottom with hot hands it bubbled and sucked the liquid into the top part.

After about 40 minutes of playing with the equipment and testing stuff out the people running the show asked us to take a seat again  for the second science live show which it was about liquids and solids they made oobleck and elephant toothpaste which was my favorite after that show was done it was time for us to leave. The time was 2 o'clock so when we got back to school we had free time on our Chromebooks till the bell went.

My hair is wavy like the ocean waves

My eyebrows are like dogs except they don't bark

My eyes are like torches because they help me see in the dark

My teeth are like needles that chomp down on my food

My ears are like two dark caves that lead to my brain

My brain is a piece of cotton candy

My heart is like a drum banging in my chest

My nose helps me breathe and it never gets a rest

Things will get worse before they get better but when they do remember who put you down and helped you backup and always remember to do your best

I am Lucky to be a New Zealander Because

We have fresh air that we can breathe and water that we can drink we are also lucky that we can walk around without being shot.In other places around the world they can’t go to school because they are to poor New Zealanders are lucky that they can walk to school easy some kids around the world have to climb hills and cross rivers .We are also lucky to have fresh fruit and vegetables kids in Africa don't have any food or fresh water to drink some kids in Africa dont have any warmth some of them die because  they are cold,hungry or thirsty.

New Zealanders are lucky that we have good health care in hospitals and free dental care for kids under 18 most kids around the world have probably never been to a dentist because it costs to much. Some people around the world and sometimes even in New Zealand give up their food and give it to people who need it.We are also lucky that we can breathe air that's not polluted in China they have to wear masks because that how bad it is. New Zealand is also lucky that we have good universities that give us the education we need to get a good job and we are also lucky that we have a large range of jobs to choose from.

New Zealand is a good country to live in it has beautiful scenery but in China and other places around the world trees and other plants are getting chopped down for know reason.People chop them down for lots of reasons like for more space to build or because it's in the way or people chop them down and burn them.i'm also glad to be in New Zealand because we have lots of wildlife and native plants,trees and even animals.I'm glad to live in New Zealand because it's a beautiful place to live because there's so much to do.I am lucky to live in New Zealand because it's an amazing place and  i'm glad we don't have any deadly animals here.
